Since we recently restarted the waiting list I feel it is necessary
to restate the rules for using them as some of you seem to have forgotten
them!
If you put your name on a waiting list then please do so in the knowledge
that you will have the time available to commit to the game.
DO NOT apply for a game on a whim.
DO NOT apply for a game just before going on holiday.
DO NOT apply for a game if you know work is about to go hectic and/or
exams are coming up.
DO Apply if you have the want and the time to commit to six other
players and a GM who also want a good quality game.
If you do put your name down and then think it is a bad idea you can
remove it by simply going to the commands page and clicking on the "remove
from waiting list" link under the player commands. You can do
this right up to the point when the game turns red and calls for confirmations.
At this point the only person who can remove you from that list is
me, and believe me when I say your reason had better be good for me
to do it because the only way I can do it is to cancel the entire gamestart
and reset the waiting list which messes everybody about.
Now I want to make this perfectly clear, I do not care about the extra
administration work involved in me doing this as some have claimed. I
am more then happy to do this when the situation warrents (as always
at my discretion). What I find unacceptable is the complete lack of respect
for your fellow players who have to wait for you to sort yourselves out
before they can have a game!
Now if you do apply for game and then cancel it or drop out after
the gamestart goes red then your account will be flagged with a failedgamestart
flag,if you get a second such flag then you will be greylisted and
banned from any future games! In addition to this if you are a regular
player you will have your regular status revoked until you have earn't
the right for regular status again. Some of you have commented this
is unfair on regulars? Personally I take the opinion that as regulars
you should know the rules and have a better respect for your fellow
players and GM's, if we can't rely on our regulars to have some common
courtesy then we are in poor shape indeed!
Now one last point I want to make clear as well,
If you confirm your willingness to start a game and then contact the
GM to tell him sorry but no from now on you will still be flaged and
have your regular status revoked. For that is abuse of the system and
downright rude!
The programmer is currently working on commands for GM's to get replacement
players, part of this software will be to do this automatically. so in
the rare instances of somebody having a good reason to drop out at that
stage then they really do need to speak to me as I will have to remove
the flags manually.
On the subject of replacements a request of GM's, until the new command
is ready can you please let me know if you need replacements and I
can forward on suitable people from the list rather then having a free
for all on the message board that bypasses the list all together!
Finally let me just say that whilst this no doubt seems harsh to some
it is done for the benefit of all and to make the waiting lists smooth
and as hassle free as possible.
