Friday 4th July 2008 Written by Patches Silverstone. How unfair to the Blackpool Committee, who had obviously worked themselves into the ground to produce a perfect showground on the Friday, and had also the advantage of a lovely day, only to end in total catastrophe on the last day, when the tents blew down, including the cooking tent when I understand one of the chefs was badly burnt and ended in hospital. No final awards were awarded as the show was abandoned around lunchtime, and I am sorry I cannot even give the results as far as our breed was concerned as my catalogue has gone missing and I cannot find that they have appeared anywhere else. I will sort this out and have them for you for next week. In the meantime, I can tell you that Mr. J. Stubbs was judging for the first time at this level, and as a spectator for the first time for many months, I so enjoyed seeing you all, and seeing the dogs and hearing all your news. Please do not forget to keep me fully up to date with any news you have - it makes these Notes so much more interesting, particularly for those who are sitting at home, unable now to get to shows and who tend to feel isolated from our sport. Heidi Cutts judged at Border Union, and awarded the BCC with BOB to Moore`s Manchando Choc Cjip from Fincham, from PGB, with the RBCC to Baker`s Dalleaf Japonica, from LB. The DCC was won by Hartley & Griffiths Creaganbrec The Favourite at Miragua, from JD with the RDCC to Coates` Ir.Ch. Cubalibre Top Spot.BP was won by Page`s Winflash Magic Mystery from PB. At Three Counties the DCC with BOB went to Cawey1s Ir.Ch. Camargue Calvin Klein, who later took Group 4 under Miss Jane Lilley. The RCC was won by Lamb`s Dalpetro Dettori from PGD.. Moore`s Manchando Choc Chip Cookie from Fincham won the BCC from PGB, with the RBCC to Harrison-Stratford`s Acland Dark Daugher by Dalkereve from OBBP went to Page`a Winflash Magic Mystery.from PB. Great results from the Swoirds All Breeds Show in Dublin, when under Finnish judge Mr. H. Lehkonen, the GSD CACIB and BOB went to Gamble`s Mullabuoy Sir Winston, which was his 7th CACIB and which subject to IKC confirmation awards him the title of Ir.Ch. We are told Danny (not Winston) sang all the way home, though from my experience my dogs join in with any human singing!. The RGSD Res CACIB went to Tapson`s Loudan`s Folly. The GSB went to Gamble`s Mullabuoy Mollys Love with RGSB and Reserve CACIB went to O`Donnell`s Mullabuoy Derrywood Ruby - explaining the singing after such a famnily affair. At Munster, with Mrs. C. Cahill judging, the GSD, with BOB, went to Casey`s Ch. Camargue Calvin Kllein of Kasare, and later he took Group 3 under Group 6 Judge Mrs. D. Dineen. The RGSD went to Pavey`s Leaveslake True Lies at Granardal. The GSB was awarded to Leaveslake Viva La Diva at Granardal, with the RGSB to Pearson`s Chandhally Chantilly Cream from Cannabee. Chris Cleland recently requested nominations for the four places vacant on the Committee of the British Carriage Dog Society, and has been rewarded with five nominees. If you would care to vote on the website, this is www.carriagedog.org, where you can see a biography of each nominee, and they are hoping for a good turnout of voters. Ring Chris on 01323 833732 if you do not have access to a computer. Cathy McCarthy as issued details of the BDC Handbook for 2009, which will be ready for Crufts that year. She suggests particularly that the photoes you would like printed should be as good as you can manage, as these make such a difference to the advertisement. You do need to be a member of the club to advertise. Gail Levy sent me a splendid report on the Fun Day held in June, They were blessed with aq lovely sunny day, and it was attended with aboujt 100 dogs (not only Dalmatians) and many "Rescues" which was a particular pleasure. A display team performed to the Cruella de Vil music, and the team responsible, led by Colin Healy, ewill be performing this also at the Paws in the Park as they did last year. Penny Wills demonstrated the use of clicker training and gave a commentary on what is required to pass the KC Good Citizen scheme bronze level. Debbie Morgan Morgan encouragewd owners and dogs to go over an agility course and John MCarthy judged the photo competition the events wound up with Dalmatian racing, taking the place of Lure Racing, which had been planned before the machine broke down. Much more fun in fact, and enabled distractions by picnics, etc.! Welfare stall, lucky dip, raffle, and catering by Anne Gurnsey all helped to produce a profit of about £700, and Gail sent huge thanks to all who worked so hard. I do not know if Irene Haywood has now recovered, but I understand she has been in hospital and had an operation. I `m sure everyone will be hoping to see her back again soon, but if you would like to send a card to her her home address it will reach her right away. If you read this, Irene, very best wishes from us all. Just a reminder that the closing date for the BDCCh. Show is 4th July, so please down load a schedule from the Club website if you have not already done so. Our great sympathy to Lou and the Jabbawock Dalmatians Their young bitch, Jabbawock Pepper Up Potion, was tragically killed recently in a car accident, and died in her mother`s arms, the driver failing to stop. To say we are sorry, Lou, is so totally inadequate, but I hope you will know just how we all feel. Patches Silverstone (tel) 01189 722959 - email: patchess@waitrose.com |

Friday 13th June 2008 Written by Patches Silverstone. I have not had any first hand information from the Southern Counties, but was immensely sad to have missed seeing Rainer Vuorinen judge. I met him in Finland some years ago when I judged the Dalmatians at Turku. He was judging the Group, and gave me one of my all time judging thrills when he awarded the top spot Group to my Dalmatian BOB! A delightful English girl was judging the Goldens, and her BOB also won the Group, and I don`t know which of us was the most excited! The DCC with BB was awarded to Bolt`s Ch. Fakenham Flash Gordon with the RDCC to Lamb`s Dalpetro Dettorri from PGD. The BCC went to Page`s Ch. Winflash Spring Angel and the RBCC to Dunnachie`s Ch. Dvojica Voodoo. BP was won by Goff-Leggett`s Washakie Aslan from MPD Dalmatians at the IKC All Breed`s Ch. Show were judged by Mr. Salvatore Tripoli from Italy. The GSD, CACIB with BOB were awrded to Casey`s Ir.Ch. Camargue Calvin Klein at Kasara, and later he won Group 3, but I am sorry I do not have the judge`s name, with the RGSD and RCACIB to Tapson`s Loudan`s Folly. GSB, CACIB and RBOB went to Caldwell`s Ir.Ch. Mullabuoy Black Pearl, with the RGSB and RCACIB to Gambles Mullabuoy Solo Babe from OB.
