Spring

Spring in the Garden This photo was taken about April time, six years ago, from the patio doors. Luckily that's where we sit at the computer, so we can gaze out most of the day!!
The tree on the right is a Mulberry (Morus Nigra) that I grew from a seed. The Lavender (Munstead) on the left of the rockery has now been yanked out as it got far too woody. I kept it fairly tidy for a number of years, pruning it as far back as I could without going into the old wood but finally it could not be renovated anymore.
Behind the rockery is the yellow bed, so called because I put all the yellow and orange plants in there. The pretty pink/white tinged tree just showing it's young leaves is the Acer pseudoplatanus Brilliantisimus.
Behind the Mulberry is the blue bed, looking a bit bleak at the time! However the seven foot high hedges of Hawthorn which go all round the garden are a source of protection from some of the elements and save us from painting wooden fences! They are also a great attraction to the birds who can safely hide within the thorns whilst waiting for the bird table to be vacated.
